About Us

Mellow Makes was created by Ashley Mello, a lifelong creative and former elementary school teacher who believes crafting should feel approachable, not intimidating.

Ashley first picked up a crochet hook during the pandemic as a way to calm an anxious mind. What started with small amigurumi projects quickly grew into a love for designing made-to-measure clothing and exploring more advanced techniques. Along the way, she realized something important, many people want to learn crochet, but get frustrated trying to figure it out alone through online videos.

Mellow Makes was built to change that.

Ashley offers in-person classes for both children and adults, with options for private and small group lessons. Her teaching style focuses on patience, confidence-building, and meeting students exactly where they are. From beginner foundations to amigurumi, tapestry crochet, size-graded patterns, and custom garment construction, students learn real skills in a supportive, hands-on environment.

At its heart, Mellow Makes is about community. Crochet circles, shared creativity, and that quiet satisfaction of making something with your own hands are all part of the vision.
